Can you add water to lash glue?
One glue tray is typically good for one client, so I recommend adding a drop of water to every glue well before getting a new drop of adhesive. By the end of the work day, the polymer will solidify and it will be a lot easier to peel off.
You should always store your glue upright in a cool, dark, and dry space. The key to keeping it fresh is keeping it consistently at a low temp (lower than 75 degrees) + low humidity. Sorry babe, that means no refrigerators! Storing your lash adhesive in your fridge could let moisture in and degrade the formula.
Always close your container/ziploc bag when the packet is inside. Good news is, you can refresh the silica gel by microwaving it!
There are a number of reasons why your false eyelashes might not be sticking - the most common reason being that the adhesive is too wet. You may also find that the lashes are in fact too heavy for your eyes, your eyes are watering too much, or you're simply not applying them correctly.
Take a Hot Shower
A hot shower works wonders for loosening eyelash extensions. While you're in the shower, don't attempt pulling, plucking, or rubbing your lash extensions.
Can I use nail glue for eyelashes? Nail glue is not a good option for eyelashes. It's very strong and can be very difficult to remove, which can damage your lashes. Nail glue also contains some harsh chemicals and dangerous ingredient that can be irritating and even damaging to your eyes.
All you need to do is bring your adhesive back up to optimum temperature and then give it a good old fashioned shake (The LashBase Shaker is best). This will then turn your “stringy” adhesive back into the perfect, professional-performance adhesive that you were used to.
It's important to stay up to date on your adhesive bottles. Expired adhesive just won't work as well as fresh adhesive, so the lash extensions you just spent hours on will fall out too quickly.
Air coming in contact with eyelash glue will cause it to dry out and expire more quickly. Air is always working its way inside the bottle, so it's important to burp it regularly to keep the air out.
Eyelash Extensions + High Heat Sources Don't Mix!
For example, direct, high heat from things like a blow dryer, ovens, stoves, grills or anything with an open flame can cause synthetic lash extensions to singe or melt.
What happens if lash glue is too cold?
Temperature can affect the viscosity (consistency) of the adhesive. Just like any liquid, when the temperature drops, lash adhesive tends to solidify itself like it's getting frozen. The viscosity of the 'cold' adhesive is higher than usual, so it will take longer to dry.
In contrast, when the temperature soars, lash adhesive liquefies itself like it's melting. The viscosity of the 'melted' adhesive is higher than usual, so it will take faster to dry than usual. Changes in temperature can come as a surprise element to your application.

Lash glues take longer to dry in low humidity, which can slow you down and also lead to longer exposure to adhesive fumes. Here are our recommended adhesives if you're working in these conditions: If your room is consistently low humidity, choose Fame eyelash extension glue.
Wait for the Glue to Dry Slightly
This is a game-changer: Let the glue dry for about 30 seconds. It'll make the fake lashes less likely to slide around when you apply.
Viscosity of the adhesive
Putting it in simpler terms: a more consistent or thicker glue will take longer to dry and will require more moisture (making it ideal for humid climates), while a thinner one will dry faster and won't need much moisture. Higher humidity = More viscous glue. Lower humidity = Thinner glue.
"You cannot remove eyelash extensions with Vaseline because all eyelash extension adhesive is made of some form of cyanoacrylate, which won't break down with Vaseline at all," says Pham.
It is very important to not cry during the process as crying can spread the glue/vapors causing irritation. Crying during the process will also make it very difficult for the glue to dry and bond the extension to your lashes.
Vaseline and natural oils like coconut and oil can be used to break up the lash adhesive bonds and gently remove lash extensions at home. However, there is a risk of damaging the natural lash, so going to a licensed lash technician is highly recommended.
Ethyl Cyanoacrylate and Methyl Cyanoacrylate are the most common forms you will find in lash adhesives.
On a serious note, fake lashes contain chemicals and adhesives that can harm your natural lashes if not used correctly. We recommend only wearing falsies for special occasions and taking them off before you go to bed.
What is eyelash glue made of?
To apply temporary false lashes, lash adhesive is used along the band of the false lashes to attach them right above your natural lashes. This kind of lash adhesive is typically made of an adhesive component, solvents, surfactants, and ammonium hydroxide.
Once opened, lash adhesives should never be stored in the fridge. If a new bottle has been kept in the fridge, bring it up to room temperature over several hours before opening. This stops condensation on the inside of the bottle.
From our experience, if the glue was kept in the optimal glue-care condition, 6 months is the maximum period of time the unopened adhesive shows its best quality. If the storage condition isn't ideal, the expiration date for unopened glue can get as short as 3 months.
The lower the temperature and humidity in your lashing space, the slower the cure of the Eyelash Extensions Glue will be. The higher the temperature and humidity in your lashing space, the faster the cure of the Eyelash Extensions Glue will be.

Caption Options. By filling a small bowl with micellar water and leaving your lashes to soak for 15 minutes, you can wash away all traces of mascara, glue and grime from a day's wear.
Eyelash Extensions + High Heat Sources Don't Mix!
For example, direct, high heat from things like a blow dryer, ovens, stoves, grills or anything with an open flame can cause synthetic lash extensions to singe or melt.
Too little humidity will slow everything down. If the room humidity is lower than the ideal level (higher than 60% room humidity), the cyanoacrylate in your glue will not have enough water vapor to help it cure. Cyanoacrylate only starts to dry when there's enough moisture.
Moisturize Your Lashes
It's no secret that our bodies need moisture from the inside and out to keep us healthy and hydrated. Drinking plenty of water always works wonders for your skin and is also great for (you guessed it!) your eyelashes. Applying moisture to your lashes will keep them plump and rejuvenated, as well.
Hydration is also necessary for eyelash growth, so be sure you are drinking enough water each day.
Can you wear lashes in water?
Not only can water damage to your lashes, the glue adhesive isn't made to resist the chemicals in a pool, nor the saltwater in the sea. In short, fake eyelashes are not waterproof or water resistant, so wearing them in the water is a bad idea.
You can soften the adhesive with a q-tip or cotton swab soaked in a good quality makeup remover, such as Dermalogica Soothing Eye Remover or RCMA Adklen Adhesive Remover. You can also use your favorite oil such as coconut or sweet almond oil. Run your swab along the lash line.
- Solvent Remover: Imagine nail polish remover, but for lash adhesive. ...
- Cream Remover: This remover looks like lotion and has a creamy consistency. ...
- Gel Remover: Like cream remover, gel remover is thicker than a solvent. ...
- Oil-Based Remover: ...
- Olive Oil or Coconut Oil:
1) Soak your false lashes in a warm water bowl with a drop of dish soap for about 5 minutes. 2) Remove one of the false eyelash from the water bowl and towel dry. The ones you are not working with, just leave them soaking. 3) Use your fingers to pull off loose glue residues.
Technically, you CAN sleep with your falsies on. However, before dozing off with your fake lashes in place, you should keep a few things in mind. For starters, sleeping with false eyelashes can strain your natural lashes unnecessarily. Eventually, this will cause them to become weaker and more brittle.
Yes, you can wear false eyelashes every day. When applied properly and taken off correctly, you can wear lashes daily without them hurting or damaging your skin.
